A pardon means to forgive someone for the wrong they have said or done. A pardon is also an act of a government by the president or reigning monarch.
A pardon is used by the government to exempt an individual or people who committed an offense from any punishment or penalty. For instance, there are times an individual or people commits a crime that can be punishable by paying a fine, serving of prison term or even passing a death sentence. In this situation, nobody can stop the law from taking its course except the ruling governor, president or monarch grants a pardon.
It is important to note that the right to grant a pardon to any criminal offense is the sole right of a leader of that country.
