Demand is the act of asking with authority and as of right, what belongs to you. It is a forceful way of asking for what belongs to you and expects that what you are asking for will not be refused.

Demands can be placed by anyone on someone as long as they feel it is their right. For instance, a child in a family might demand both emotional and other forms of attention from parents. Also in countries, citizens make demands from the government of their nation. For example, citizens can demand that health care be free or subsidized. They can also demand that there should be a higher level of security. These, among other things, can be placed as a demand.

It is not wrong to place demands, however, no matter what you demand; be it individually or collectively, always make sure that it is within your right to demand such things.
