Dyslexia is a type of learning disability that stems from a difficulty in reading, spelling, and writing. It occurs when there is a defect in the way the brain processes and interprets the meaning of letters. The cause of dyslexia is believed to be neurological as well as genetic or hereditary.

Dyslexia is not in anyway connected to a person’s intelligence. Unlike other individuals, persons with dyslexia would be considered slow in learning, however, this does not mean that they are not academically bright. It only means that they take longer time than others to learn.

Although there is no cure for dyslexia, nevertheless, the services and support of professionals such as psychologists can help people with dyslexia to fit into the society, have a promising career and a good life.
