During the period of growth and development, every child learns from what parents, relatives, and teachers teach them. However, there are times that a child will do something negative, thereby deviating from what has been taught. It is the duty of a parent, caregiver or teacher to correct them.
Even though a child should be corrected, the mode of correction differs from one parent to another. Some parents prefer to dialogue with their child while for some others, a punitive measure is taken to discipline that child.
Both methods of correction are good in their own way. Nevertheless, leaning only on dialogue could make a parent appear too soft and unserious. Also using only punitive measures could harden up a child.
All in all, parents should be firm with their children in as much as they ought to be loved.
