Spices are seeds, roots, fruit or vegetables that are used to season, flavor or preserve foods. They are usually dried and ground into powder before use. Some of the very common spices include ginger, cinnamon, garlic, nutmeg, cayenne, pepper, turmeric, onion, and so many others.
Spices play other roles apart from adding flavor, color and acting as a preservative in food. Spices have some medicinal properties which when used often can be beneficial to your health. For example, onion, turmeric, rosemary, garlic, and shallot possess some antioxidant properties that can fight certain cancers. Parsley and rosemary are beneficial in relieving stress and also help in the treatment of inflammation.
