A promise is a legally binding declaration that gives the person to whom it is made a right to expect or to claim the performance or forbearance of a specified act. A lot of times, people make all sorts of promises either to friends, families or spouse. Some promises are fulfilled while other times, they are not.
When you keep the promises you make, it shows that you value your words. Moreover, keeping to your words will also make others value you and not take you for granted. On the other hand, when you make promises and not keep to it, it says nothing good about you.
Obviously, it hurts when people make a promise to you but do not fulfill it. Notwithstanding, you can also ask yourself these questions, “What was the last promise I made to someone?” “Did I fulfill it?” It is not advisable to commit to something you know that you cannot keep just to please someone at that particular moment. However, if you; for genuine reasons have made a promise you didn’t keep, it would be kind if you make it up to whoever you made the promise to.
