Once the word “infidelity” is mentioned, a lot of people think of sex with another person other than a spouse. Although it is part of it, however, it is beyond that. It is total disloyalty and betrayal, an act of unfaithfulness to one’s spouse both sexually, emotionally, financially and so on. For instance, one partner having an affair with an outsider while still married to current spouse or having a child outside of one’s marriage is infidelity.
Several factors can cause infidelity in a relationship. It could be an emotional or sexual disconnection between the parties involved. In this situation, one party may not feel sexually satisfied and this as well affects the way couples feel towards each other. Also, when one is in a relationship with someone who is not right for them, it could result in infidelity.
Infidelity is very costly. While some marriages and relationships have managed to reconcile after cases of infidelity, some others have not. Sometimes, some reconciled partners lack trust for each other. However, some other couples who may not be able to bear the pain often take the route of separation or divorce.
