A family can be defined as a basic social unit that is made up of a father, mother and children who may or may not be living together. Apart from this basic definition, some communities view family as aunts, uncles and cousins inclusive.
Although all of the family members aforementioned are blood related, on the other hand, there are some set of people who you may prefer referring to as family also. You may have some close friends who; when you faced some dire circumstances, have been there for you in numerous ways just like a blood relative would. Sometimes, some of them were there when none of your relatives showed up for you.
If you find yourself in a position where you have been asked to recommend someone to fill a position and you have two qualified candidates from “family”. When push comes to shove, would you choose your blood relative or would you choose your friend who you also consider family?
