An embargo is a government ban on trade or other commercial activity with a particular country. It is also a restriction of trade for certain products. It is usually placed on a country by another in order to make things difficult for that country’s government.
It is a form of protest used to put a country under pressure especially when that country’s practices are not acceptable. It can be used when there is a political, economic, moral
or environmental disagreement between countries.
A good example of an embargo is a restriction of the importation or exportation of certain goods from a country to another. Also, a country can prohibit any form of financial or technological investments to another country as a form of the embargo to that country.
The reasons for placing embargoes on another country may be genuine, however, the government may not feel the impact as much as the masses may do.
