Bureaucracy is a system of government in which most of the important decisions are made by state officials rather than by elected representatives. This system of administration is characterized by specialization of functions, adherence to fixed and inflexible rules, regulations, and procedures, a clear hierarchy of authority and impersonal relationships.

These bureaucratic rules once made, are difficult to change.

It is interesting to know that bureaucracy not only exists in organizations but even in homes. There are some parents who exact too much authority, rules and regulations on their children and anyone residing with them.

It is good to do have certain measures of rules and regulations which you follow. However, rigid and inflexible rules can sometimes delay some decision-making processes, waste more time and make things more difficult. Apply caution!
