Pokémon developer Game Freak bringing horse racing-Solitaire mash-up to 3DS
Pocket Card Jockey is a unusual but inspired combination Game Freak is bringing Pocket Card Jockey, which combines card game Solitaire with the thrill of horse racing, to Nintendo 3DS in May.
Pocket Card Jockey will feature a “fast-paced, simplified version of solitaire," according to Nintendo, that will propel the horse and jockey through races. "It’s all about leveling up the horse through strategic positioning and placement on the track," Nintendo said in an official announcement following today’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
Players will be able to collect trophies and attract sponsors as they progress.

Best Buy members get it early A special demo for Bravely Second: End Layer will launch on Nintendo 3DS eShop on March 10, Nintendo announced in its recent Nintendo Direct presentation.
Members of Best Buy’s Gamers Club will be able to download the demo earlier; they’ll receive codes starting March 7.
The demo will allow players to transfer items, experience and other content over to the full game. This is similar to the demo for Bravely Default, the predecessor to Square Enix’s upcoming role-playing game.
Bravely Second: End Layer will launch April 15. A collector’s edition set will be available at launch that includes an art book and other extras.
Check out the video above for more on Bravely Second from today’s Nintendo Direct.
Kirby: Planet Robobot puts Kirby into a mech suit this June
Nintendo toughens Kirby up with some useful armor Kirby: Planet Robobot is the next entry in the Kirby franchise, and it will give the pink puffball a powerful metal suit when it launches on Nintendo 3DS on June 10, Nintendo announced today during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
As usual, Kirby will be running through levels of platforming in Planet Robobot, switching between the foreground and background and using more than 25 copy abilities. But when enemy invaders come in and mechanize Dreamland, Kirby decides to use their metal suits against them. Kirby can smash through obstacles with his Robobot armor, and the armor itself can take on enemy characteristics. The Robobot suit can be modified with more than 10 different “modes," which are versions of enemies.
Kirby: Planet Robobot also features a separate mode called Team Kirby Clash. In this side activity, a group of four players can team up for co-op quests. Everyone plays a different role and earns experience points by completing quests. As players rank up, they’re able to take on tougher missions. The mode will be available through Download Play, so only one person in the group needs to own Planet Robobot.
In addition to those elements, Kirby: Planet Robobot will offer support for all amiibo. Many amiibo figures will give Kirby copy abilities in the game, and some will even provide character-specific traits. For example, putting Mario on your 3DS while playing Planet Robobot will give Kirby the "fire" ability, while Link will bring in the "sword" ability.
"If you tap any amiibo, something is sure to happen," said Nintendo’s Bill Trinen.
Nintendo also announced that it will release four amiibo from the Kirby franchise alongside the launch of Kirby: Planet Robobot: Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight and Waddle Dee.

Watch 15 minutes of gameplay from Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Space Pirates! Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a first-person shooter from Nintendo and Next Level Games. The game puts you in the role of a Marine, sent by the law-keeping Galactic Federation on a series of dangerous missions. You can run through it single-player, or with four-player co-op like we do in this video.
In this series of missions, we deal fiery death to some Space Pirates and destroy an enemy power station. The pirate ship mission has mechanics similar to Blast Ball, which you might remember from the Nintendo World Championships. The enemies bombard us with wave after wave of projectiles.
In the planet-side mission, we take the squad into the grimy depths of a power station. Enemies and environmental hazards are around every corner, but there are some cool interactions between squad members, too. Watch us rescue one of our buddies during the battle in the power station’s flooded core.
The game offers a variety of weapons. I’m a fan of the torpedoes myself, but keep an eye out for some other cool options.
Metroid Prime: Federation Force will come out in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS.
Hands-on gameplay with Star Fox Zero’s Retro Arwing

Earlier today, Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct packed full of announcements — including the reveal of the Retro Arwing, a special ship available within Star Fox Zero unlocked through the use of the Fox McCloud amiibo.
Recently, we went hands-on with Star Fox Zero, including a little time with the Retro Arwing. Above, see what the unlockable ship changes: including the sound effects, music, the missile system, and even a low-poly version of the Walker — a sly reference to the cancelled SNES sequel Star Fox 2.
For more on Star Fox, check out Star Fox Guard, a newly announced downloadable Star Fox title available as a pack-in with physical copies of Star Fox Zero.
Joss Whedon will return to Marvel for Captain America’s 75th anniversary
Excelsior! Writer, director and long-time Marvel Cinematic Universe consultant Joss Whedon will write a backup story in this month’s issue of Captain America: Sam Wilson, a celebration of 75 years of Captain America, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The character was first introduced in Captain America Comics #1 in March of 1941, a comic with a cover that famously featured its new hero felling Hitler with a roundhouse punch — a more controversial statement than it might seem now, since America wouldn’t actually enter World War II for another nine months. Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, has not been the only man to take on the moniker, though he’s certainly held it for the longest.
These days, however, the name of Captain America — and the star-spangled suit — is worn by Sam Wilson, formerly the Falcon, Marvel’s first African American superhero. Rogers will, no doubt, appear some where in the anniversary issue, which will consist of several stories. The lead writer and artist on Captain America: Sam Wilson (Nick Spencer and Daniel Acuna) will create a larger lead story, followed by at least two backup features, one written by Greg Rucka and drawn by Mike Perkins, and one written by Joss Whedon and drawn by John Cassiday, says Entertainment Weekly.
Whedon made his first mark on Marvel Comics directly when he began writing the new title Astonishing X-Men, with Cassiday on art. The writer’s run introduced ideas like the Cure for the mutant x-gene, which would later be borrowed for the X-Men film franchise. Whedon also took over writing Marvel’s hit teen series Runaways from its creator Brian K. Vaughan.
Though Whedon’s most well-known contribution to Marvel is inarguably directing what is now the fifth highest grossing film of all time, The Avengers (as well as its sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron), there are doubtless many fans of him, John Cassiday and Astonishing X-Men who’ll be excited for this news.
Captain America: Sam Wilson #7 will hit physical and digital comics retailers on March 30, 2016.
OmniBus is full of corn and wanton destruction
Watch on YouTube | Subscribe to Polygon on YouTube
I consider myself a good driver. Nay, a great driver. That’s why I enjoyed OmniBus.
Much like in real life, OmniBus lets you pilot a gravity-challenged bus that can never stop. I tried to explain this concept to Phil Kollar, and for some reason he’s confiscating my driver’s license. All I did was destroy most of a city, murder a bunch of tourists and drive a herd of cows into TNT. I’m not sure what his problem is, but you should watch this Let’s Play and judge me more kindly.
OmniBus comes out on Steam in spring 2016.
Homefront: The Revolution gets single-player season pass, year of free co-op content
And a special edition with an RC drone tank Homefront: The Revolution will be available in a special package called the Goliath Edition, a bundle that includes the game’s DLC season pass and a real-life radio-controlled “Goliath" drone tank, publisher Deep Silver announced today.
The Goliath Edition will cost $159, a Deep Silver representative told Polygon. It comes with the game’s Expansion Pass, which covers "major single player expansions," according to a press release from Deep Silver. The spokesperson declined to specify the price of the season pass on its own, saying instead that Deep Silver will reveal that information — as well as details of the expansions themselves — "at a later date."
Homefront: The Revolution’s Goliath Edition gets its name from the armored vehicle that headlines the package: a six-wheel replica of a tank used by the Korean People’s Army, the game’s main antagonist group. The real-life version also features working lights. Here’s what else is included in the Goliath Edition, which will be available only in North America and will have a "strictly limited" production run:
a copy of the game in a Steelbook case
a 32-page art book
the Revolutionary Spirit Pack, which is a bundle of skins and weapons for your character in the game’s co-op Resistance Mode
Dambuster Studios, the developer of Homefront: The Revolution, is promising to deliver 12 months’ worth of post-release content for Resistance Mode — including new missions, challenges and equipment — for free. And Dambuster is planning to maintain a team "for at least a year after release" that’s dedicated to developing single-player content, all of which will be covered by the Expansion Pass, according to game director Hasit Zala.
Deep Silver also announced a long list of pre-order bonuses for Homefront: The Revolution. All pre-order customers will receive the Revolutionary Spirit Pack, and anybody who pre-orders a digital copy will also receive the Liberty Pack. The Guerrilla Care Package and Combat Stimulant Pack will be available at GameStop; Amazon will offer the Wing Skull Pack; and Best Buy pre-order customers will get the game in a Steelbook case.
Homefront: The Revolution is set for release May 17 in North America on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. Mac and Linux versions are also in development. You can see an image of the Goliath Edition above, and six minutes of multiplayer footage below.
Even League of Legends pros are awful at the game sometimes
As a relatively new League of Legends player, sometimes watching the North America League of Legends Championship Series can be quite disheartening. These players and teams are, by and large, incredible, and it’s hard to imagine ever having a fraction of that skill.
Other times, I find solace in the fact that even the pros have bad games. Sometimes, hilariously awful bad games.
Such was the case this past weekend, when the NA LCS’ two lowest-ranked teams faced off in a match where they made virtually every mistake they could. The two teams were Renegades, who headed into the fight with only a single win and 12 losses to their name for the season so far, and Team Dignitas, who had a just slightly better four win/nine loss record.
The game begins with some incredibly awkward lane-swapping, as Renegades take a top lane turret and Team Diginitas take a bottom lane turret. It’s not an abnormal thing to see in a pro League of Legends game, but it’s handled sloppy. How sloppy? By four minutes and 35 seconds into the match, there have been four deaths … and none of them were caused by an opposing team member.
Team Dignitas somehow loses two champions to their poorly timed tower push. Meanwhile, Renegades, rather than taking advantage of that poor play from their opponents, manages to lose two champions while trying to fight the Rift Herald enemy. It’s a situation that’s so hard to believe, that even the casters are left speechless.
I won’t spoil any more of the match, but you can watch it for yourself in the video above. If you’ve ever felt bad about your own abilities at League of Legends, this should help. Be sure to stick around for a post-game interview where Renegades ADC Freeze explains how the team dealt with their rough early game mistakes.
And if you struggle all the time, be sure to check out this great video on how to avoid getting angry while playing.
Uncharted 4 delayed again, coming to PS4 in May
Naughty Dog’s action-adventure pushed back one more time Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be released worldwide on May 10, Sony announced on the PlayStation Blog today. That’s a two-week delay from the PlayStation 4 game’s previous launch date.
Shawn Layden, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, chalked up the brief delay to the need for more manufacturing time.
“As you know, Naughty Dog is wrapping up production on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with the game on track to go gold and into production later this month," Layden said. "In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one, we have chosen to postpone the launch of the game by two weeks to allow for extra manufacturing time."
Uncharted 4 has been pushed back multiple times. The game was once planned for release at the end of 2015.
Naughty Dog will hold an open multiplayer stress test for the game this weekend.
