famine

This situation is usually caused by a lot of different factors such as failure of crops to grow, drought, overpopulation, natural disaster and unfavorable government policies. Famine can result in suffering, starvation, acute malnutrition and even death.

Currently, countries in Africa and the Middle East are suffering the consequences of hunger and famine. These countries are in a state of humanitarian emergency.
It is important to realise that a continued food shortage, starvation, and malnutrition in these regions could result in unhealthy population and an unhealthy economy.

The government in these regions should encourage more effective agriculture and agricultural strategies in order to put a permanent end to this ugly situation.
