Confusion is a situation in which there is a change in an individual’s mental status resulting in uncertainty, lack of clarity, and lack of understanding of what is happening or what is to be done in a certain circumstance. In a state of confusion, one is not able to think clearly or straight.

It makes one disoriented and possibly find it difficult to make any form of decisions. When confusion gets to its extreme state, it is referred to as delirium.

Some of the causes of confusion could be inadequate sleep. When you do not have enough sleep, it might affect your ability to concentrate, think straight, and subsequently make any reasonable decision. Also, when one is using some substances such as drugs, it can cause confusion. Again, certain medical conditions can lead one into a state of confusion.

Confusion occurs occasionally in every individual.  However, cases of extreme confusion require proper medical attention.
